Aion 2 launches globally with eight classes. Any of them works solo; they differ in what they bring to a group.
| Class | Role | Style | What groups want it for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gladiator | Bruiser | Melee | AoE damage and off-tanking |
| Templar | Tank | Melee | Holding bosses and soaking damage |
| Assassin | Burst damage | Melee | Positional burst |
| Ranger | Sustained damage | Ranged | Safe, steady physical damage |
| Sorcerer | Burst damage | Ranged caster | Heavy magic burst and control |
| Spiritmaster | Summoner | Ranged caster | Spirit damage that keeps working |
| Cleric | Healer | Support | Primary healing |
| Chanter | Support | Melee support | Heals and party buffs |
Gladiator
Melee bruiser that wins through sustain and pressure. Wide cleaves make it quick through packs, and it's strong in small PvP fights. Easy to play, hungry for gear. Read the full Gladiator guide.
Templar
The dedicated tank. A large share of Templar damage comes from one skill, Judgment, so getting it to level 20 early matters.
Assassin
Melee burst built on critical hits and attacking from behind. Assassins hit hardest when they land their positionals.
Ranger
Physical ranged damage with steady output from a safe distance. Easy to bring to most content.
Sorcerer
Magic burst with strong control. Sorcerer's kit gains nothing from front/back damage boost, so it gears differently — almost every Korean Sorcerer runs Talisra's Wings for the cooldown reduction.
Spiritmaster
A caster that fights alongside summoned spirits. Its damage is the least affected by latency, which suits a high-ping connection. Like Sorcerer, it doesn't use front/back damage boost.
Cleric
The primary healer, always in demand for group content. Key stigmas such as Light of Protection decide how much the group survives.
Chanter
Melee support that heals and buffs. Like Cleric, it depends on levelling stigmas such as Undefeated Mantra.
How to choose
- Stay in the fight and outlast enemies: Gladiator or Templar.
- Biggest numbers: Assassin or Sorcerer.
- Fight from range: Ranger, Sorcerer or Spiritmaster.
- High ping: Spiritmaster.
- A group spot every time: Cleric or Chanter.
Gearing differs by class too — the stat weights guide has what each stat is worth for all eight.
